More than a dozen college students got a firsthand look at the broadcast news business at the ABC7 newsroom in Glendale on Thursday, May 7, as part of an AAJA-LA event.
The students — who represented seven local colleges — took a guided tour of the newsroom, watched the 6 p.m. newscast anchored by David Ono and Jovana Lara, and learned from Vice President/News Director Pam Chen; Director of Digital Operations Hanna Maxfield; sports producer Dae Ho Suk; and Ono on a career discussion panel.
All of the students were from schools that have regularly participated in AAJA-LA’s annual Trivia Bowl, which raises funds for grants, internships and professional development programs throughout the year.
Thank you so much to our hosts, ABC7, for this incredible opportunity for the next generation of journalists.
— Samantha Masunaga, AAJA-LA president
