Strengthening ties: A night of connection at the AAPI Heritage Month mixer

The energy in Westwood was palpable on Thursday, May 7, as media and communications professionals gathered to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month. Hosted jointly by the Los Angeles chapters of the Asian American Journalists Assn. and the Public Relations Society of America, the 4th annual networking mixer served as a vibrant hub for community and collaboration.

Held at the renowned Emporium Thai, the event brought together approximately 40 attendees, a dynamic mix of seasoned journalists and public relations specialists, all looking to expand their networks and share industry insights.

Events such as these underscore the importance of cross-industry collaboration. By bringing together the storytellers and the strategists, AAJA-LA and PRSA-LA continue to strengthen the local AAPI leaders and media ecosystem.

Special thanks to Gita Amar, an AAJA-LA advisory board member, and John McCartney, PRSA-LA’s treasurer, for organizing the event.

We are grateful to Emporium Thai and its founder, John Sungkamee, for welcoming both groups.
