What is Trivia bowl?
Trivia Bowl is AAJA-LA’s largest annual event. It brings together teams from newsrooms, nonprofits, universities, and businesses for a fun night of competition, fundraising, and community.
Who can attend?
Trivia Bowl is a private event for sponsors, participating teams, and invited guests. It is not open to the general public.
How are teams formed?
Teams are organized by sponsoring organizations. If your company is sponsoring a team, you’ll be invited to join directly. If not, reach out and we’ll try to match you with a community team.
How many people can be on a team?
Each team can have up to 10 players.
Do I need to be good at trivia to join?
Not at all. Teams work together to answer questions, and the goal is to have fun while supporting a great cause.
Can I volunteer at the event?
Yes. We’re always looking for volunteers to help with setup, scoring, hospitality, and logistics.
How can my organization sponsor a team?
We offer several sponsorship tiers. Sponsors not only support AAJA-LA’s mission but also get to form a team and compete.
Where is the event held?
Location details are shared with registered teams and sponsors ahead of the event.
What’s the dress code?
Most people dress business casual, but team spirit wear and creative outfits are welcome.
Will food be provided?
Yes. Thanks to our hospitality sponsors, food and drinks are available during the event.
Can I bring guests?
Only registered participants and invited guests are allowed. If you’re unsure, check with your team captain or sponsor.
What do I win?
Bragging rights, your team’s name on the Rice Cup trophy, and possibly some surprise prizes.
